Edge-state and bulklike laser-induced correlation effects in high-harmonic generation from a linear chain

We explore the significance of laser-induced correlation effects for high-order harmonic generation (HHG) in a linear chain model generic band gap material both single-IR-pulse and VUV-pump--IR-probe HHG schemes. examine various pump-pulse excitations, categorize signatures into two classes related to edge-state bulklike effects. The relative importance ef- fects decreases with increasing system size, while remain. identify regimes where these may alter yield by an order magnitude, but also regions they be neglected. characterize underlying dynamics correlational mechanisms, using electronic population description static field-free basis comparison band-structure picture time-dependent energy shifts. From this we provide guideline on when account electron correlations give estimate timescale which electron-electron interactions can cause changes spectra. find few tens femtoseconds.
